First of all, we will talk about the application and characteristics of tubular rivets. Tubular rivet connections are similar to hollow rivet connections, which belong to non load-bearing structures connected with fasteners.
The hollow cavity of rivets can pass through pipelines and is widely used for connecting small structural components such as electronic circuit boards, electrical equipment, household appliances, clothing labels, electronic products, office supplies, and softer materials such as plastic or fiber. The strength of this connected tubular rivet body is weaker than that of a semi hollow rivet, and it is not suitable for withstanding shear or tensile forces. It is not suitable for applications subject to intense impact and vibration.
How do small tubular rivets fasten tightly? To understand its working principle, first of all, the riveting workpiece needs to be pre punched, and then tubular rivets are placed to form a connection between the rivets on the riveting plate. The hollow or tubular rivets used are first used as connection tools and then plastically deformed together with the riveted sheet to achieve the purpose of connection. There are several types of pre punching riveting processes. When a tubular rivet is pressed down by a punch, the rivet head expands to achieve a flanging effect, and then the rivet and the underlying plate are combined and pressed together to form a mechanical interlocking mechanism between the plates to complete riveting.
With the development of modern industry, the requirements for socio-economic performance are becoming higher and higher, which makes automotive industry products in daily life pay more attention to the lightweight of assemblies and the high quality of connections, and seek ways to reduce the quality of vehicle bodies. One of them is to use lightweight materials, such as tubular rivets, full hollow rivets, and so on. So far, spot welding (resistance welding) is the main method for connecting steel plate body structures, which is not only conducive to mass production, but also has a solid and reliable quality; However, for the connection between ferrous metals and nonferrous metals, the connection between nonferrous metals (such as thin aluminum plates), the connection between metals and non-metals, and the connection between non-metals, spot welding is difficult or powerless.
As a vehicle for mass production, in the connection of body parts such as bonding, welding, and riveting, in order to meet the needs of rapid and automated production, and to connect materials that cannot and are difficult to spot weld, riveting is increasingly valued and favored.
Stamping and riveting process for tubular rivets: The punch first moves downward to pre compress the riveting material, preventing the material from flowing into the concave mold under the force of the rivet, and then the punch moves downward to push the rivet downward to pierce the upper layer of material. Under the combined action of the concave mold and the punch, the rivet tail opens in the lower layer of metal, forming a bell shaped shape to lock the riveting material and achieve connection purposes.
In the automobile body manufacturing, the pre punching riveting process of hollow rivets is mainly used in the lightweight production of automobiles. In the tubular riveting process, when riveting the same metal material, the thicker one is placed on the lower layer; When two layers of different metal materials are used, the material with good plasticity is placed on the lower layer; When riveting metal and non-metallic materials, place the metal material on the lower layer.
